Visitor
Information
Visitors
are encouraged to take a guided tour of the Capitol, and and to visit the offices of their Senators and
Representatives. The Capitol is open from 9 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Saturday and all Federal holidays except
Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
Visitors can
obtain free tickets beginning at 9AM daily at the Capitol Guide Service
kiosk located along the curving sidewalk southwest of the Capitol (near
the intersection of First Street, S.W., and Independence Avenue; see map
below. Visitors
will then be directed to the South Visitor Receiving Facility, which is
located south of the Capitol; from there they will proceed to the
Capitol to begin their tour. Tours can also be arranged in advance
through a Senator's or Representative's office.
Because of increased security,
please contact the U.S. Capitol Guide Service if you have any questions
before your visit. Recorded information is available at 202-225-6827.
Tours
and assistance for disabled visitors are available from the
Congressional Special
Services Office, on the first floor
central area known as the "crypt" or by telephone at
202-224-4048.
Materials providing additional information about the Capitol and the
Congress are also available from the
Congressional Special Services Office. Citizens of the United States who have specific questions about the
Capitol or Congress are encouraged to write either of their Senators
(Washington, DC 20510) or their Representative (Washington, DC 20515).
Member's Offices
Offices of Representatives are located in the three buildings on the
south side of the Capitol along Independence Avenue: the Cannon,
Longworth, and Rayburn Buildings. Senators have offices in the three
buildings on the north side of the Capitol along Constitution Avenue:
the Russell, Dirksen, and Hart Buildings.
