"It is not enough to discover Christ - you must bring Him to others!
The world today is one great mission land, even in countries of
long-standing Christian tradition." -- Pope John Paul II

Missionary Catholics United for Life
Operation Holy Presence |
Mission:
To unite
all Catholic Pro-Life individuals, families, organizations and
all lay associations such as: The Knights of Columbus, Holy
Name Society, Sodality of Our Lady, Blue Army, Legion of Mary, Marian
Cenacles, Secular Third Orders, and all Home School, Christian Youth
and College Organizations to participate in Operation Holy
Presence, whose expressed goal is to tour the U.S. Capitol
Building, visit our elected officials at the U.S. Capitol Complex, and
to present them with a signed petition to support the reversal of Roe
v. Wade and defend the dignity of all human life from the moment of
conception until natural death as another step forward in ending all
legalized abortion.
First
and foremost, we encourage your support for the annual March for
Life. Next, we urge all pro-life supporters (youth should be
encouraged regardless of voting age) to participate in Operation
Holy Presence by organizing a field trip to
Washington, D.C. on another date to visit and tour our beautiful
U.S. Capitol Building while Congress is in session as an advocate
for life. In addition to experiencing the interior splendor of the
Capitol Building through the eyes of faith, these field trips will
provide an important and
interesting Civics Lesson for future
leaders of America, further increasing a pro-life presence in
Washington, D.C. on a day-by-day basis.
All
participants in Operation Holy Presence are asked to sign
the Visitors Petition (pdf
or
doc)
urging our Congressmen and Senators to support the reversal of Roe
v. Wade and defend the dignity of all human life from the moment of
conception until natural death. Participants are also requested
to sign an official Pledge Form (pdf
or
doc) with a respectful
understanding that they will remain quiet in an organized
Christ-like manner with generosity of heart and a tenderness
of spirit either while waiting outside or touring the inside
of the Capitol Building. Petitions are to be
delivered to the
offices of their respective Congressmen
and Senators which are located within the
Capitol Complex. We suggest that
participants in Operation
Holy Presence refrain from public prayer or displaying any signs or
banners while waiting outside or while touring the inside of the
buildings. However, wearing shirts, hats, jackets and
badges identifying your group and private prayer is encouraged.
Most importantly, we request that you
do not visit any other governing site on this
trip, keeping in mind the goal for pro-life supporters to be in
and out of the Capitol area in an expedient fashion.
However, there are many
other wonderful points of interest located in and
around our nation's Capital for all to view. We
suggest that you set time aside to visit the
National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception
for Holy Mass and meals. The telephone number to the National Shrine
is 1-202-526-8300.
Congress is in session
throughout the year; however recess varies according
to holidays, national elections and national emergencies. The
telephone number to the Capitol switchboard
(1-202-224-3121) will provide tour information, the
current Congressional schedule, and specific office locations
of your Congressmen and Senators.

A letter from the
Pope dated February 20, 1999 to Cardinal William Henry Keeler,
Archbishop of Baltimore and Chairman of the U.S. Bishops' Committee
for Pro-life activities states, "All pro-life action must be both
educational and political. There must be a thorough catechesis on
the Gospel of Life at all levels of the Catholic
community. Catholics imbibe much of their surrounding culture, and
therefore this catechesis needs to challenge the prevailing culture at
those points where human dignity and rights are threatened. Such a
catechesis has as its goal that shift of perception and a change of
heart which accompany true conversion (cf. Eph 4:23). The call to
conversion must ring out in your homes, in your parishes and in your
schools, with complete confidence that the Church's teaching about the
inviolability of life is deeply in tune with both right reason and the
deepest longings of the human heart. This educational effort will
increasingly open the way for Catholics to exercise a positive public
influence as citizens of their country, without false appeals to the
separation of Church and State in a way that consigns the Christian
vision of human dignity to the realm of private belief. The
choice in favour of life is not a private option but a basic demand of
a just and moral society."
In addition to the
Holy Father, we wish to thank every devoted lay person, priest, deacon
and religious and all our faithful pro-life leaders, Cardinals and
Bishops involved in earnest in this pious movement to end the
unimaginable crimes against human life. God is with us.
Let us
collaborate with Our Lady, our Mother and Queen of all virtues in
giving glory to God by modeling Christ. And, let us pray always and
say the holy rosary with confidence as we work together as a country
for the support and the success of Operation Holy Presence as
another means of bringing to conclusion the culture of death.
Let us go now in
peace to love and serve the Lord.
O’Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who
have recourse to Thee.

Benedict XVI
Lord, source of eternal life and truth, give to your shepherd
Benedict XVI a spirit of courage and right judgment, a spirit of
knowledge and love. By governing with fidelity those
entrusted to his care,
may he, as successor to the Apostle Peter and Vicar of Christ,
build your Church into a sacrament of unity, love, and peace for
all the world. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ,
your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one
God, for ever and ever. Amen.

An elementary look at Moral Relativism
When we insist on doing it our way and not God's way, or when we
try to have it both ways, or when we determine what we think
truth should be, we are participating in moral
relativism. Dear brothers and sisters, moral relativism is
condemned by the Church.
Lord, give us your children, the
gift of obedience which is the beginning of wisdom.

Civil Unions:
"It is
legitimate and necessary to ask oneself if this is perhaps part
of a new ideology of evil perhaps more insidious and
hidden, which attempts to pit human rights against the family
and against man."
John
Paul II "Memory and Identity"
Remember, the
Church teaches to love the sinner not the sin.
A Shocking Reality
-
When a man abuses a woman it is
because he has an impure mind.
-
Another way of saying this is to say
that he has sins of impurity.
-
No matter how it is said, the Church
knows this to be true.
-
Statistics show that abuse is on the
rise.
-
Therefore, we have a lot of work to
do to reverse this shocking reality.
-
With Our Lady, let us pray for guidance and trust in
His Providence.

"We are living in a spiritual Hiroshima" by

February 14, 2008
Another school shooting shakes our nation.
America mourns the seven students who were killed and we pray
for the fifteen students wounded at Northern Illinois
University.
Respect for all human life begins in the womb. The murders
that took place at Columbine in Colorado along with the more
recent shootings in Illinois, Virginia, Pennsylvania and other
parts of our beloved country are a horrible result of the
Culture of Death. It is a grim reminder that we reap what
we sow. Our young people are under attack from the powers
that promote abortion, pornography, drugs and alcohol, sex and
violence throughout the media: in movies, on TV, on the news, in
commercials, on the internet, in video games and music, etc.
It is time to understand the gravity of these evils. Or,
God forbid, are we just too busy accumulating things? America must wake up. The enemy is well funded to succeed.
We can begin the good fight by praying the holy rosary every day
for the Holy Spirit to enlighten and guide us and the media as
well, and by reading good Catholic
books to inspire us to act through faith and reason.
With Our Lady's intercession and God's help, we can reverse the
trend of evil and give victory to Him who sustains us.
Let us pray that God will cause great good to come from all the
evil that has been done.

Update on Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act
Three trials in U.S. District
Courts in California, Nebraska, and New York s truck
down the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act prohibiting the U.S.
Justice Department from enforcing this law. It is
ultimately up to the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold the ban on
partial birth abortion. A one-vote shift on the Supreme
Court would allow the ban on partial-birth abortion to be
upheld.
Dear brothers and sisters, we may have lost another battle but
not the war against the culture of death. Let us continue
the good fight with our prayers and holy presence in Washington
(our holy presence does matter) and let us offer up our daily
suffering for God's justice to be done.
A
Loving Reminder
-
Justice - the very word itself is derived from God.
-
The
principal outcome of private judgment is license.
-
Taking God out of the equation when deciding an issue equals a
mere opinion.
-
To
confound truth with personal opinion is the greatest
temptation and a sin of pride.
March
25, 2004
(Feast of the Annunciation - Feast of Life)
Members of the U.S. House and Senate passed the Unborn Victims
of Violence Act, which makes it a federal crime to assault a
woman and cause the death or injury to a child in her womb.
President Bush signed it into law on April 1, 2004.
November 5, 2003
George W. Bush signed the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act
With Our Lady we praise God for this effort to end partial birth
abortion.
(Pray for only a short delay of this law.)
Also, on November 5th we celebrate the feast of St. Elizabeth,
who was the wife of Zechariah, mother of St. John the Baptist
and cousin of Mary, the Mother of Jesus. According to
scripture, the Angel Gabriel told Mary that the Holy Spirit
would overshadow her, and she would become the Mother of God.
In addition, the angel told Mary that her cousin Elizabeth in
her old age, was also with child. With that knowledge, the
virgin Mary set out to be with Elizabeth and Zechariah in their
time of need. When Elizabeth came out to greet Mary,
Elizabeth's child leaped in her womb at the presence of God and
His mother. It is a dual miraculous moment in history that
on this day of November 5th, we celebrate George W. Bush signing
the bill to ban partial birth abortion as we remember that the
very first person on earth to recognize Our Lord was an unborn
child.

Lord, from our hearts we pray that You will rest Your holy hands
upon all our brothers and sisters involved in abortion.
Fill their minds with Your wisdom that they will come to know
that You reward virtue; bless them with many prosperous
opportunities to redirect the talents which You have given them,
for Your glory Lord. And please Lord, bless them with Your
peace. Amen.

Hats
Off
According to the Vatican document "Redemptionis
Sacramentum" a politician who publicly supports abortion rights
may not receive Holy Communion. Recently, a number of
Catholic bishops have stated that they would protect the
sacredness of the most Holy Eucharist by not serving Our Lord's
most precious body and blood to anyone whose soul is in a state
of mortal sin. To do so knowingly would gravely compromise
the fundamental teachings of the Holy Roman Catholic Church.
"Hats Off" to the many faithful bishops who are publicly
defending this document.

Suggestions to Empower Clergy
-
Simply remind your congregation/students
from time to time, "Remember...this is a pro life parish/school."
-
Gently explain to your congregation/students
the idea to be personally opposed to abortion and at
the same time support it politically is a morally
schizophrenic idea.

LEST WE FORGET
Our thoughts written on 9/11/01: Please join us as we
unite our deep sorrow along with our heartfelt prayers to
Jesus for His peace and protection of our beloved country.
O Lord, help America to turn back to You, where we belong;
and fix Your gaze of love upon us. Let us do penance
and plead for Your justice and mercy for all the poor
victims and their families as a result of the Godless acts
of terrorism forced upon our sad nation this day.

Our generous and wondrous Father has deemed to send us such
a loving Mother to comfort us by her gentle smile; embrace
us in the arms of her protection and to plead for every good
thing we humbly seek through the love of her most holy
heart. We your loving and trustful children beseech
you dear Mother to steady our hearts; mold and shape us into
the image of your Son, and intercede for our nation in this
time of trial. He will not refuse you. In your
wisdom dear Mother, ask Him for what we cannot fathom to
know, and teach us how to pray. He possesses an answer
to every problem and keeps His pledge with works of wonder;
please plead for His justice, mercy and peace. Then
send all the holy angels necessary on a pilgrimage of love
to assist our guardian angels in guarding and guiding us.
Please ask Him for a complete coalition victory, future
successful elections, and an enduring installation of a
capable, God fearing democracy in Iraq and a lasting peace throughout
the Middle East. Implore Him to
disarm our enemies, bless and protect us, our beloved country, our President,
his advisors, our military, our allies and their families
from every evil. Mother, we celebrate His holy name
with lasting praise. Please bring all our prayers and
petitions for us and all the poor victims of war, with love
and trust to our heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus and
in the power of the Holy Spirit, help us to pray: Our
Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name....
Please pray this prayer everyday and again when evening is
done to thwart every evil throughout the night,
until peace prevails and our troops return home.
